Best Modern Design Deluxe
Designercarpets has won the award Best Modern Design Deluxe 2013 with the carpet Com Un Camp Llaurat. The award ceremony took place during the international carpet fair Domotex in Hannover. This year 214 carpet manufactures from 25 countries contested for the award. The Carpet Design Award sets worldwide standards regarding the quality and the design of handmade carpets. An international jury of six specialists for design and interior judged the quality of the carpets focussing on design, use of material, creativity, product design and innovation.
Joan Hernández Pichuan
Com Un Camp Llaurat
Between 1945 and 1947 Pijuan was a pupil of the school of arts Escuela de la Llotja in Barcelona. From 1952 to 1953 he was a student of the academy of arts Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de Sant Jordi in Barcelona, where he held a professorship since 1976.
He is ranked among to the most significance Spanish painters of the present. Pijuan never wanted to submit to a particular direction or style. Although his works show a high level of abstraction he always resisted to be categorized to an abstract painter.
His works always were geared to the reality. The bleak landscapes around Folquer in Catalonia have been the initial point for the origin of the artwork Com Un Camp Llaurat. Pijuan transferred his sight on a plowed field through reduction and simplification into a distinctive area to the canvas.
The carefulness with what this painting was created gets continued in our hand knotted masterpiece of pure natural silk. This up to 150 pieces limited special edition is a homage to the artist Joan Hernández Pijuan, a painter of silence. more
