product description

This carpet, consisting of 192 hand-knotted, specifically arranged squares, is considered one of the masterpieces of the Bauhaus in Weimar. The original adorned Walter Gropius's director's office, which also served as an exhibition space for Bauhaus works and was skillfully created by Gropius as an architectural Gesamtkunstwerk.

The carpet was designed by Gertrud Arndt in 1924. The re-edition of the carpet is based on the original wool yarns and original watercolor drawings, which are kept in the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin.
