BELA & ELIS bring pure joie de vivre into every living space!

"With my designs, I want to inspire people, stimulate their imagination, and awaken emotions." Zurich-based textile designer Sonnhild Kestler believes it's important to tell new stories with her work, but also to reactivate past experiences in viewers: "Abstract, archaic forms give rise to pictorial figures or scenes that evoke personal memories and thus come alive. BELA & ELIS, too, are intended to become a canvas for their own narratives and thus the emotional heart of the space.

Handmade unique pieces – sustainable and fairly traded

Sonnhild Kestler carefully and playfully develops the color and shape: "Compositions unfold intuitively and playfully, which I meticulously assemble into a kind of paper collage. I mix the colors that I print onto the paper specifically for this purpose, experiment with a vocabulary of forms, and react to the design on a 1:1 scale." Once the color scheme is harmonious, the paper and wool colors are perfectly matched, and the carpet goes into production in Kathmandu: Here, the virgin sheep's wool is hand-spun, and BELA & ELIS is crafted row by row according to Tibetan knotting traditions.

Thanks to its texture, Tibetan wool not only provides a uniquely soft feel, but also a healthy living environment – ​​and thanks to their expressive motifs, a vibrant room atmosphere: BELA & ELIS are ideal eye-catchers in the living room, enjoy lying at the feet of the bedroom, welcome guests in the hallway, and enrich daily life with their sheer presence. The two figures can be playfully combined, enlivening the room as a pair, head to head or individually, and unfolding their individual effect depending on where they are placed.
