Pijuan never sought to conform to a particular movement or style. Although his works exhibit a high degree of abstraction, he always resisted being categorized as an abstract painter.
His works were always based on reality. The desolate landscapes around Folquer in Catalonia served as the starting point for the creation of the artwork "Com Un Camp Llaurat." Pijuan transformed his view of a plowed field into a striking surface on canvas through reduction and simplification.
