IMM Cologne 2020 - interior fashion

The Bauhaus anniversary last year was reflected in many ways. This was also the case with the Lörrach carpet manufacturer Designercarpets . They produced the two Bauhaus carpets No. 1 (photo) and No. 2 based on the original wool patterns.
The re-edition is elaborately hand-knotted from the finest virgin wool.
Both carpets were designed by Gertrud Arndt , who came to the Bauhaus in Weimar in the winter of 1923/1924 to study architecture. After the preliminary course, her path led not to the construction department, but to the Bauhaus weaving workshop. There she designed the famous Bauhaus carpet No. 2, among other things. The original adorned Walter Gropius 's director's office. During research for the new edition, the designs and wool samples for another carpet by Gertrud Arndt, the Bauhaus carpet No. 1, were discovered in the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin. The colorful composition of this carpet is a design from 1924, which was only realized once as a knotted carpet.
