Nordic Minimalism: When a thread becomes a rug
In collaboration with Helsinki-based architect and designer Eszter Nagy, we have created a work that redefines the boundaries between textile art and traditional craftsmanship.
The beauty of origin
Fonal simply means "thread" in Hungarian. But behind this simplicity lies an artistic process. The pattern wasn't created on a computer, but through physical experimentation: yarns soaked in ink were pressed onto fabrics, creating irregular, aesthetically pleasing lines.

A tactile experience: nettle meets silk
What makes Fonal so special is the deliberate contrast of the materials :
-
Raw nettle: The base is undyed, hand-knotted nettle. It is matte, earthy, and honest in its texture.
-
Pure silk: The flowing lines are created using silk in a fine loop technique.
The result is a "controlled imperfection". Because the coarse nettle fibers gently break through the fine silk lines again and again, no two carpets are exactly alike.
Sustainability in its most elegant form
For us, luxury today means above all responsibility. By foregoing artificial dyes in the nettle fabric and using purely natural materials, Fonal adapts to any lighting conditions in your home. It radiates the tranquility and clarity for which Nordic design is appreciated worldwide.
