A CARPET FOR GROPIUS

"After flowers, butterflies, birds and all kinds of other flora and fauna, graphic patterns are now in the foreground when it comes to carpets. While Jan Kath showed Spektrum Tenno, a carpet reminiscent of paintings by Josef Albers, Designercarpets from Lörrach has reissued two carpets by Bauhaus student Gertrud Arndt based on the original wool patterns. Among them is the famous Bauhaus carpet No. 2, which Arndt once wove himself and which later decorated Walter Gropius' director's room in the Bauhaus in Dessau," reports the magazine More than Design based on a trade fair book at the IMM Cologne.
