Walking on eventful history – Hotel Zoo

Berlin – Since its founding in 1911, the Hotel Zoo has been the meeting place for great personalities. Famous film stars who attended their film premieres in the neighboring Zoo-Palast cinema – such as Romy Schneider, Hildegard Knef, Grace Kelly and Gina Lollobrigida – were also distinguished guests here.
The hotel has had an eventful history, as turbulent times have passed through the building. Far-reaching events have come and gone. During the renovation in 2012, the American designer Dayna Lee set herself the task of preserving the flair of the past and transferring the splendor of the 1900s into the 21st century. With great attention to detail!
The hotel reopened in November 2014 with its 145 rooms and suites after a two-year renovation phase. Together with her design studio Powerstrip Studios, Lee has created a modern townhouse. The exclusive carpets from DESIGNERCARPETS fit perfectly into the overall picture and skilfully underline the special atmosphere of this hotel.

The "Living Room"
In the seven-meter-high and light-flooded entrance area, Dayna Lee uses velvet fabrics against leather and mixes rich pink with yellow and violet. The Kaleidoscope carpet made of pure silk, hand-knotted in Nepal and designed by the designer Carmen Stallbaumer , decorates the floor and also plays with these color nuances.
The Grace Bar
The hand-knotted Com un Camp Llaurat carpet, limited to 150 pieces, is perfect for the subdued and exotic atmosphere of the bar. This carpet is also knotted in Nepal. Its design is a tribute to the artist Joan Hernández Pijuan , a painter of silence.
The "Industrial Rooms"
For the elegant rooms in a homely townhouse atmosphere, the designer chose the color scheme of eggshell, taupe and lilac. The same colors can be found in the Ghengis 1 carpet from D-Range. This carpet is made using the hand-tufting technique and consists of Tibetan highland wool and a natural silk blend.
The suites
The suites have lost none of their old splendor and shine in sophisticated cream and chocolate tones, accentuated with individual gold-colored accents. The Kaleidoscope and Rêveur carpets by Carmen Stallbaumer seem to have been made for these rooms. Both carpets are hand-knotted in Nepal from pure silk.
