Joan Hernández Pijuan Com Un Camp Llaurat

From 1945 to 1947, Pijuan was a student at the Escuela de la Llotja, an art school in Barcelona. From 1952 to 1953, he was a student at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de Sant Jordi in Barcelona, where he also held a professorship from 1976.
He is one of the most important Spanish painters of our time. Pijuan never wanted to conform to a particular style. Although his works show a high degree of abstraction, he has always refused to be classified as an abstract painter.
His works were always based on reality. The barren landscapes around Folquer in Catalonia formed the starting point for the creation of the work Com Un Camp Llaurat. Through reduction and simplification, Pijuan transformed his view of a ploughed field into a striking surface on the canvas.
The care with which this work was created is continued by us in a hand-knotted masterpiece made of pure silk. This special edition, limited to 150 pieces, is a tribute to the artist Joan Hernández Pijuan, a painter of silence.
